Atlas Shrugged. A Movie. Really?

So earlier today, I found out that Atlas Shrugged is being made into a movie. It was my impression that that particular book is best when it's inaccessible to just anyone, because the book has a message which appeals to everyone, but really is for a specific type of person. The philosophy of the novel preaches Selfishness. Ayn Rand actually wrote a book called, The Virtue Of Selfishness, so that's not libel. She said that if one could do better than one's peer, one should and one should take all that their talents could give them. If one were to be hindered by their peers, the better has the right to conquer, destroy or abandon the lesser. Everyone who reads this book thinks Mrs. Rand is talking about them, which breeds selfish, mostly in people desperate for a reason to be selfish.

The obvious deterrent to this is that Atlas Shrugged is 1168 pages. Movies are the great equalizer, any guy can rent Atlas Shrugged and chill for the 2-3 hours it takes to view it. We're looking at an epidemic of assholes. People cutting each other off in traffic, stealing parking spaces, stealing girlfriends and stealing mail. Dogs marrying cats and Old people on skateboards.
